Diet Should Be Variable

1. Convenient does not mean correct.

Although eating the same thing every day is convenient, it is important to understand that for a long, active and healthy life, our body needs a large number of essential nutrients and micro-elements.

2. Physiological need in a variable diet.

The World Health Organization recommends: “Eat a variety of foods.” A wide variety of foods assures that you will get the nutrients you need. For example, recent research conducted in Finland, found that children with a set diet increased the risk of developing allergies and asthma.

3. Psychological need in a variable diet.

In addition to the physiological need for varied food, there is a psychological benefit of a varied diet: it provides a wider range of tastes and nutrients without becoming tired of eating the same thing over and over again. Additionally, a varied diet tends to reduce the episodes of overeating.

4. Include food from all five major food groups:

⦁    Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts

⦁    Fruits

⦁    Vegetables and legumes

⦁    Bread, cereals, rice, pasta

⦁    Dairy and fermented milk products, cheese

Add to your everyday meal all the products you need for your diet with simple and delicious recipes.
